PIZZA mamo is a new concept serving up Detroit-style pizza. Located on Hotel Street in Chinatown, they are from the owners of Brick Fire Tavern (which is now located on Waialae Avenue in Kaimuki).
The menu features eight signature pizzas, all Detroit-style. Options include the Mamo (tomato, mozzarella, pepperoni, Parmesan), the Arugula (arugula, cherry tomatoes, goat cheese, balsamic glaze), and the Hawaii Kai (spinach, mushrooms, pancetta, white sauce). The pizzas are cooked in a rectangular pan with high sides and a crispy, caramelized cheese edge that goes all the way around.
Overall, the pizzas at PIZZA mamo are unique and delicious. If you’re looking for something different than your regular pizza joint, make sure to check out PIZZA mamo. The pizzas are large enough to share, but you might not want to because they’re so good. Prices range from $15-24.
In addition to pizza, PIZZA mamo also has salads and garlic knots. The salads are big enough to be a meal and include the Mamo (mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, mozzarella, pepperoni, Parmesan) and the Beet (arugula, roasted beets, goat cheese, balsamic glaze). The garlic knots come in an order of six and are served with marinara sauce.
If you’re looking for a new pizza place to try, PIZZA mamo should be at the top of your list. The pizzas are unique and delicious, and you’ll be supporting a local business. Make sure to check out PIZZA mamo the next time you’re in Chinatown!
