Hawaii’s 1st Annual Royal Tribute

The Kingdom of Hawaii commemorated its first annual Royal Tribute on November 18, 2022, at Iolani Palace, the official residence of some of the Kingdom’s past monarchs. The event brought together members of all levels of Hawaiian society to honor the Kingdom’s history and celebrate its culture.

I was invited to this event by some people I met at a travel2change event. It was a beautiful day in Honolulu and I am so glad that I was able to experience a portion of the events that they held on this day!

Royal Tribute

This was a beautiful celebration for the people of Hawaii. When I arrived, I was excited by how the Palace Grounds were filled with large groups. The Palace was beautifully decorated, with wrapped columns and flags framing the stairs. There were about 1000 people in attendance. It was a beautiful sight to see so many come out to celebrate the royalty and their many contributions.

In attendance were many members of modern Hawaiian society, including representatives of the government and leaders of business and industry. Most of the participants in the program were wonderfully dressed in era clothing pieces.

This event was an opportunity to celebrate the Kingdom’s history and culture and to come together as a community. There were performances by musicians and hula dancers, including a beautiful rendition of “Ke Aloha O Ka Haku (The Queen’s Prayer)“. The Stevedores then participated in the procession toward the stairs. It was a special moment in history to witness.

I am so grateful for the opportunity to see so many others honoring the Kingdom of Hawaii and the history of the monarchy. I look forward to future Royal Tributes here in Hawaii!
