A Soft Answer Turns Away Wrath
Lessons from My Driving Misadventures
Welcome to the ELISE.LOVE blog, a space where we explore life’s lessons and stories, in all their delightful and challenging forms. In today’s post, we’re steering slightly off our usual path and zooming into an intriguing world of driving adventures. While not typically behind the wheel, I’ve discovered that my occasional driving forays offer rich lessons about life, human nature, and personal growth. Buckle up as we navigate the unexpected turns and occasional roadblocks that these experiences bring.
In life, we often find ourselves facing unusual experiences that teach us valuable lessons. One such area where I’ve experienced this type of learning lately is in driving. And on the road, the Lord made it very clear to me that a soft answer does indeed turn away wrath.
A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.
Proverbs 15:1
Let me tell you about my recent interaction. As I was driving, a truck behind me was quite displeased with my skills (or lack thereof). They made their feelings known when we stopped at a light, pulling up alongside me, and asking if I needed help driving. In these situations, I’ve found that a simple apology can defuse tension quickly. So, I just replied, “Sorry, I don’t usually drive.” Her reaction? She just shrugged and left.
This is more than just a comical anecdote. It is living proof that even in the most stressful moments, maintaining a calm and patient attitude can make all the difference. It’s all part of the journey, and the journey is what life’s all about.
