Description
Located in the mountains of Central Oʻahu, our 2.5 mile hike covers 488 feet of elevation gain and provides exposure to a variety of trees and foliage. Here in Hawaiʻi, our forests produce water, prevent landslides, and contribute to the health of our reefs and beaches. Vast amounts of water are needed to produce clothes, and the fashion industry is responsible for 20% of global waste water and 10% of greenhouse gas emissions. Help conserve our natural resources by donating your gently used clothing items to be recycled!
Shinrin-Yoku, the Japanese art of forest bathing, has calming neuro-psychological effects through changes in the nervous system, reducing the stress hormone – cortisol – and boosting the immune system. Shinrin-yoku has resulted in decreases in stress, anger, anxiety, depression and sleeplessness. With just 15 minutes of forest bathing, blood pressure drops, stress levels are reduced, and concentration and mental clarity improve.
